Rescue. Train. Rehome. Stay Home.
Program Description:
Our Train To Adopt Program is a compassionate initiative dedicated to giving rescue dogs and dogs facing rehoming a true second chance at life. We pull dogs from shelters or homes where they can no longer be cared for and provide them with individualized training focused on behavior, socialization, and adaptability. Our goal is to equip each dog with the skills they need to thrive in a home environment.
Once trained, we carefully match each dog with a loving, suitable family—one that understands their needs and is committed to a lifelong bond. By investing in both the dog and the adoptive family through training, education, and support, we aim to reduce the chances of future surrender and ensure these dogs finally find—and stay in—their forever homes.
Included in this program are free Private Lessons for one year after adoption, a free Send Home session to go over training and education on how to successfully integrate the pup into the new home and continue their training, a top of the line remote electronic collar (Mini or Micro Educator), a training collar best suited to the dog, and lifelong support from our team!
Why It Matters:
Too often, dogs are returned to shelters due to behavioral issues or mismatched placements. Our proactive approach bridges the gap between rescue and rehome, increasing the success rate of adoptions and breaking the cycle of displacement. Every dog deserves a stable, loving home—and we're here to make that happen.
Ollie is a 3 year old spayed Aussie mix looking for her forever home! She is a spunky gal who is down for an adventure or just hanging out with her people and dog friends. She’s got a great off switch and hangs out on her bed while we are cooking, watching tv or just hanging out. Ollie loves and plays hard with our other dogs and absolutely loves people she has gotten to know but can be a bit timid when first meeting new people or dogs so slow intros will help her be successful. She comes out of her shell rather quickly in these situations with new people and dogs.
Additional facts about Ollie:
Great leash manners- no pulling
Knows heel, sit, down, “here” (recall), place, kennel and “out” (drop it)
Ecollar trained and fully off leash reliable
Muzzle Trained
Doesn’t chase wildlife or prey
Crate trained/ potty trained
Exposure to homes with cats
Food and toy motivated
Settles extremely well in home (a lower energy dog compared to some herding dogs)
Up to date on vaccines
Ollie *can* be reactive to people, dogs and loud trucks/motorcycles but when managed and with guidance through these moments with appropriate communication from her handler, she is able to work through these triggers and remain calm and neutral. Despite her previous reactivity, consistent training has allowed Ollie to explore the world and doesn’t stop her from successfully going to farmers markets, busy stores, packed trails, patios, etc. As long as her reactivity is managed, she *CAN* be a go anywhere do anything dog successfully and enthusiastically.
Ollie would do best in a home with owners who will keep up with her current level of training including mental, physical and biological fulfillment, confidence building and exposure work. While Ollie is a lower energy herding breed comparatively, overall fulfillment will be essential to ensure her ability to self soothe, settle in both low and high distraction environments, and mitigate her reactivity. She’s a great mix of adventure pup and can also just hang at home for the day.
Meet Koda, our first Train to Adopt graduate 🐾 Koda is a 1 year old, Aussie/ Border Collie mix with a sweet and silly personality. In his time with RTP he has grown into a go everywhere, do everything dog and is ready to find his forever home!
A few facts about Koda:

Koda would do well in a home with owners that will keep up with his current level of training including mental, physical and biological fulfillment. Since Koda is a high drive, high energy breed this will allow him to know how to relax and have an off switch when needed. He is a great patio pup and an even better adventure buddy!
*We believe Koda would be well suited in an apartment or townhome environment so long as he is getting the stimulation that he needs.
